The Delaware Mobile Surf-Fishermen, Inc, is more widely known as DMS. We are a family oriented group of like-minded persons - men, woman and children - who have a deep interest in surf fishing, preserving beach access, conservation of the beaches, the waters and the marine sport fisheries. We strive to inform our members and the public of information relating to beach access issues, beach driving, marine sport fishing and waters.
DMS members abide by a Code of Ethics. These ethics are based on common courtesy and common sense as applied to personal conduct on and the safe operation of vehicles on the beach.
DMS is governed by elected Officers and an elected Board of Directors. Find our current Board members here.
DMS started in 1958. Find more club history here.
DMS participates in many activities to further the conservation of the beaches and the sport of surf fishing. We sponsor or support beach clean-up, beach grass planting, Adopt-a-Highway, the Delaware Special Olympics fishing event and our Annual Invitational Surf Fishing Tournament, to name a few.
DMS strives to keep abreast of issues relating to the fisheries in the State of Delaware. DMS members regulary attend the Tidal Fin Fishery Advisory Council, where discussions with and recommendations are made to the Division of Fish and Wildlife of Delaware's Department of Natural Resources and Environemntal Control (DNREC). We meet annually with our State's legislators and key members of DNREC to keep abreast of anticipated changes in legislation and regulations of DNREC's Division of Fish and Wildlife and it's Division of Parks and Recreation.
DMS also has a seat on the Governor's Advisory Council on Recreational Fishing Funding, which oversee's the expenditure of monies raised by General Fishing License (GFL) fees.
DMS is a members of the United Mobile Access Preservation Association (UMAPA). The UMAPA is an umbrella oganization of associations that partake in mobile sport fishing in coastal, tidal and inland waters in North America.
We invite any person who has an interest in preserving our beaches, beach access and improving the recreational salt water fishery to join DMS.
